The Cultural Association of Tigray conducted a fruitful work shop on Drugs and their social impact, the theme of the workshop was.

Presenters were from Mekelle University, Religious institutions and governmental organizations.
Key note speech was made by Ato Welday Kidanu, the executive Director of cultural Association of Tigray. Ato welday pointed out that traditional and backward attitudes that hinder our development and growth are the focal points to be avoided and this will implemented through continuous research he also pointed out that the magnitude and expansion of drug abuse in Mekelle and other cities is in creasing at an alarming rate. The workshop was prepared to create awareness and increase the participation of community in preventing drug abuse and the impact on the young generation he expressed that the cultural Association is ready to work hard to alleviate the problem in collaboration with the concerned bodies. Representatives of different bureaus, university students, representatives of associations, NGOs, and known personalities were attending the workshop. Ato Kiros Redehegn, representing the Bureau of social Affairs, reiterated the importance of the workshop in creating awareness on the burning issue, drug abuse, and the timely conducted workshop.
Finally, a thorough discussion was conducted and different questions were raised and the presenters answered questions. Suggestions from the participants were forwarded that such a workshop should be continuous and should reach the grab roots level.
